When Ovation transferred their mass production to Korea the AX models were born. These are the top of the line Korean models often referred to as the 'Pro Series'. Some compromises where made regarding materials and the standardization of necks, but it's the same USA bowl and the build quality is excellent. The bracing on the LX is significantly different compared to the standard USA Ovation. The designers borrowed a very expensive piece of equipment from the helicopter division. This scanning device was designed to measure the vibration in helicopters (...generally regarded as a bad thing), however they applied it to looking at the vibration profile of a guitar top. They could then indentify and measure the vibration points and the dead zones, and through trial and error they chipped away at the braces to maximize top vibration. This modified bracing then became the template for the LX models. They also modified the bowl material with 'bubbles' to reduce the mass by 30%. This in combination with the brace modification, made the LX, acoustically, more vibrant and warmer. I wouldn't say the sound is better than a standard Ovation, just different. It's the closest sounding Ovation to a 'regular' guitar. I think the carbon fiber rods in the neck and the truss rod access at the headstock have already been covered.
